Our Pastor

Pastor Green’s introduction to God was through the late Pastor Reverend Coleman Gray of the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, Michigan. At fifteen, he became the musician for the youth department. Shortly thereafter, he was the musician for the Senior Choir, Gospel Choir, Male Chorus, Youth Choir, Young Adult Choir, and Junior Choir.

In 1982, he enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from Benton Harbor High School. While living in the city of Olster-Holz Scharmbeck, Germany, God moved in his life, according to Acts 2:4. It was in their home during a late-night prayer meeting that God baptized him in the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in an unknown tongue, as the Holy Spirit gave utterance. Continuing to serve at the Olster-Holz Scharmbeck church, he was appointed to the office of Deacon under Elder Earl Peterson.

Pastor Green accepted the call into the ministry in 1988 while in Hanau, Germany, at the New Birth COGIC. Later, while serving in Battle Creek, Michigan, he received his ordination license through the Michigan Southwest First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction on August 25, 1996. The Jurisdictional Bishop was John H. Sheard, Sr., and his pastor was Superintendent H. Le’Mon.

After retiring from the military in 2004, Pastor Green was led to return to the state of Michigan. A month after returning, he was employed at the Defense Logistics Agency, where he retired in 2024. In 2011, the Pastor of St. Mark, Reverend John L. Price, was called from his earthly dwelling, and Elder Green became the successor as Pastor. The scripture in St. Mark 12:31 states, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” He went a little further and decided to love and marry his next-door neighbor. After finding his wife, Danette Dyson, his high school sweetheart, they were united in holy matrimony in 1983.

Don and Danette have three children: NaStashia, Donald Jr., and Shakira. Pastor and Lady Green’s family has been blessed with the union of Don Jr. and their daughter-in-love, Shannon. God has blessed Pastor and Lady Green with a total of five grandchildren. Their family has grown with the recent adoption of two daughters, A’Raya and Gionna Reed.

By the leading of God, Pastor Green has served as Pastor at the Holy Ground Worship Center (previously St. Mark MBC) since 2011. He is a graduate of Central Texas College and Cornerstone University. He continues to further his education as a student at the Cornerstone Theological Seminary.
